The Weekly Style Edit Link Up: Black

Happy Friday! I hope you are having a good week so far, and are looking forward to Halloween. I have to be honest here... I am not a big fan of Halloween. I know most people go crazy for the holiday, but that's definitely not the case in our household. I'm just thankful that I was able to marry someone who shares the same dislike for Halloween! Poor Harper will have to grow up with parents who think it's a waste of time and money to wear a costume (insert monkey covering its face emoji). Thankfully we have a few years left until she may actually even care. Ok, ok, enough about Halloween!  One thing I am super excited for is this week's The Weekly Style Edit link up. Not only is it featuring one of my favorite colors since I was little (no joke, ask my mom haha!), but Megan and I also have a co-host! Today we are joined by the lovely Annie from The Real Housewife of Fresno. Be sure to head over to their blog's to check out how they styled their black outfits, and link up with us below!

Boho Vibes & Braids

It's been awhile since I've worn these flared jeans, and I'm not quite sure why I don't wear them more often! I feel like it can be a bit of a struggle to find the right shoes to pair with them. Being 5'10", I almost never have a problem with jeans or pants being too long (or long enough that I have to wear something other than flat shoes with them), so when I do it's always a bit tricky. It can also be hard to choose the right top to pair with flares, since you are already creating a bit of volume at the bottom. I love the look of a boho style top with a great pair of flared jeans, and this printed blouse from Gray Monroe totally fit the bill for me. It definitely strikes the right balance for me and I can't wait to wear it with a leather or suede jacket in the next few weeks when we may actually experience some cooler temperatures! I am not super talented when it comes to doing my hair, but I also thought a fun boho braided half-up style would work perfectly with the vibes of this top. For more braid inspiration, be sure to check out the lovely ladies I am teaming up with today for the #bloggersFALLfor collaboration at the end of the post.

How To Style Plaid Two Ways - Part Two + The Weekly Style Edit Link Up

TGIF! For some reason, this week seemed to drag on and on for me. The dog was sick and I had so much to do at work, so I'm especially happy that the weekend is almost here. You may have seen that earlier in the week I shared how I wore this plaid top with jeans and a moto jacket, and today I thought it would be fun to try to style it in a different way. Now that it's finally cooling down a bit, I feel like it's all about the faux leather leggings! I love the 90's throwback feel of a plaid button down and leather, especially with a little pop of leopard. The great thing about plaid is that it can totally be dressed up or down. This outfit could be dressed up even more by throwing a blazer on top and adding a bold burgundy lip to finish off the look. Do you have a favorite plaid outfit you've shared? Be sure to come link up with Megan from The Fashionista Momma at the end of the post and show us your outfits incorporating this perfect fall trend.

How To Style Plaid Two Ways - Part One

As the days keep getting shorter, it seems like the weeks do too! I can't believe it's already Wednesday! I typically post on Tuesdays and Fridays for The Weekly Style Edit link up, but I've decided to switch things up a bit for awhile and start posting on Wednesdays. I am going to be joining a group of lovely ladies that I "met" via Instagram to share some fall style trends with you, so be sure to check them all out at the end of today's post. This week my post's will be all about a fall and winter staple: plaid! Who doesn't love a good plaid shirt? I recently found the plaid button down I'm wearing today at Target and totally feel like I need to pick it up in a few other colors. I usually have a hard time finding button down shirts to be loose enough in the chest, and this one totally fits the bill. It's so good, I decided to style it two ways, even though the styling options are endless. Make sure to check back on Friday to see how I style it in a different way for The Weekly Style Edit link up.

What's your favorite way to style a plaid button down shirt?

The Weekly Style Edit Link Up: Bomber Jackets

Man, this week just flew by! I feel like just yesterday I was celebrating my birthday in a hot air balloon and now I'm already preparing for the weekend ahead. The past few weeks have been so much fun, which you may have seen some glimpses of them if you follow me on Snapchat (@lindsayrutland). It's also still not quite feeling like fall, but I'm totally trying to make fall happen. I recently found this floral print bomber jacket at Target, and knew it had to be mine. It also happened to be the perfect piece for this week's The Weekly Style Edit with Megan from The Fashionista Momma. Bomber jackets are so on trend right now, and are such a cute layering piece for fall! Be sure to check out how Megan styled her bomber jacket, and link up with us below to share your bomber jacket looks with us! Next week we will be styling plaid.
