Earlier this week my little family and I decided to go to a local park to have a picnic for dinner. It actually wasn't as warm out as we anticipated and it was really windy, but we wound up having a great time. It was nice to do something different and get out of the house for dinnertime to break up the week. When venturing out with the baby, I always have to make sure my clothing is nursing friendly. I am super proud to say that I have been nursing Harper for a year now, and this girl does not seem to be stopping at any point in the near future, which I am totally ok with. It can sometimes be a struggle to find nursing friendly clothing that is both functional and cute. I was recently introduced to BellyMoms Maternity and love their selection of pieces for pregnancy and beyond. To all my fellow nursing (and expecting) mamas out there, you have to check out BellyMoms Maternity. They have a huge selection of maternity and nursing friendly clothes, as well as cloth diapers! Today I am excited to be giving away an organic belly band to one lucky expecting mama. Be sure to check out the Rafflecopter at the end of the post to get your entries in.

I hope you are all enjoying your week so far! Last week was so crazy for me, as I tried to prepare for Harper's birthday, so I am hoping that things slow down a bit now that it has passed. Today I am breaking out of my usual style related posts to share some of the hair products that I can't live without at the moment. I'll be honest... I have never been a fan of my hair. The texture is less than desirable, it is completely stick straight, and I have struggled trying to find products that don't weigh down my already fine/thin hair for years. I have also highlighted my hair since I was in college to brighten up my naturally dirty blonde hair. I was recently introduced to BLNDN and was excited to try out their products, as they are specifically made for chemically lightened hair, like mine. I struggle at times with my hair looking brassy, especially as it gets closer to the time that I need to get my highlights re-done, so I decided to try out the Tone You Toning Rinse. I only use it 1-2 times per week, and will put it on and let it sit in my hair for about 5 minutes in between shampoo and conditioning.
I am also dealing with the ever so lovely postpartum regrowth, so I can use all the help I can get taming flyaways and random baby hairs that are popping up. The Save You Balancing Cream has been helpful in creating a smoother look, and I generally just use one pump of it on my damp hair before I blow dry it. I initially tried to use 2 pumps and found it to be way too heavy for my fine hair. I also add about 3 pumps of this Shea Moisture mousse before blow drying my hair. Unfortunately due to how flat and fine my hair is, I have to blow dry it every day to give it a little bit of body. My other favorite way to add body is by spraying a bit of Living Proof dry shampoo in, especially on days when I leave my hair straight.
I am always on the lookout for new products to try, so I would love to hear about your favorites in the comments below!

Today marks the most important day yet in my short 32 years of life - my daughter, Harper's, first birthday. Before you become a parent, you will have so many people tell you how fast time will pass you by. They will tell you to enjoy every moment of it, and this piece of advice could not be any more accurate. I honestly feel like there is a lot that happened during this past year that I can't even remember, which is most definitely a result of a lack of sleep, but also due to how many little things change on a daily basis when you have a baby. Before having Harper, I shared a lot about my pregnancy, including what I planned to pack for a birth center birth and how I planned to use essential oils during labor and beyond. I have always loved reading other mamas birth stories, and had thoughts of some day sharing my own here on Middle of Somewhere. I figured her first birthday would be the perfect occasion to do so.

Considering that Harper's first birthday is only a few days away, I am having a major moment! Now that Harper is getting older, there are so many more mommy and me outfit options, and it is so much fun! I have been loving all of the matching clothing options that are available right now. I absolutely adore the idea of twinning with my little, and I was recently able to find so many adorable mom and daughter pieces. These pieces are SO easy to mix and match, and are all great closet staples as the temperatures rise and we all get ready for summer!
If you are a Target fanatic like I am, then you may have seen the Marimekko for Target line that recently launched. How darling is this mod print bathing suit for baby and matching cover up for mama? My daughter and I actually own this exact set, and I can't wait to wear them this summer!
Who doesn't love a good pair of boyfriend shorts for summer? I about lost my mind when I went to Old Navy recently and came across these baby boyfriend shorts! I love that Old Navy sells almost the exact same printed tank and shorts in both women's and baby girl sizes. The fact that every piece in this set is under $25 is also a huge plus!
I'd love to know your thoughts: are you into the mini me style?
Where are some of your favorite places to shop for mommy and me coordinating clothing?

I recently received this amazing Philosophy bomber jacket from my latest Le Tote and I am obsessed! It's been a little bit cooler here lately, thankfully, so I was able to throw this on over this super soft raglan sleeve tee over the past weekend. If I can't go on a vacation to somewhere tropical, I might as well dress like I am! I also can't stop wearing these distressed Rockstar jeans. I usually always stick with dark denim, but I find these Rockstar jeans to be really flattering and I love that they don't stretch out after wearing them all day! I am having so much fun trying out new brands and styles with my Le Tote subscription. If you are wanting to check out Le Tote, you can use the code SOMEWHERE25 for 25% off your first month. I actually have 3 free totes to give away, so if you're interested feel free to comment below or send me an email and let me know!

TGIF! I feel like this weekend is just the beginning of a super busy few weeks for me. May is always the craziest month for me with so many birthday's, Mother's Day, etc. that sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. My husband's birthday next Tuesday, followed by Harper's birthday on the 22nd. I am looking forward to both, and can't wait to share details from Harper's party on here in a few weeks! Now back to this outfit... How cute is the scalloped hem detail on this top from The Mint Julep Boutique? I wore this casual outfit on Mother's Day last weekend, and see myself wearing this top so many different ways throughout the rest of the spring and summer. I can actually even seen it worn as a layering piece under a blazer in the fall! I am also seriously obsessed with this tassel necklace from The Little Biting Tree. Would you ever guess it's a teething necklace? I have shared some of my teething jewelry before, and I think it's pretty obvious that I love teething necklaces that don't actually look like teething necklaces! Of all my teething jewelry, Harper seems to love this one the most, and I think I do too!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you have been enjoying your week so far. If you are a regular here at Middle of Somewhere, then you probably know how much I love a good deal. I'll be honest, I rarely ever pay full price for anything that I buy, especially when it comes to clothes! Most of the stores I shop at regularly offer great discounts, but I am always looking for other ways to save. I have always been a big fan of Groupon, especially when they offer the $5 for a $10 Starbucks gift card deal, and recently found out that they also offer Groupon Coupons. They offer coupons that you can use to shop both online and in person. Groupon Coupons cover a huge range of stores, including Carter's (one of my favorite places to get clothes for Harper), Macy's, Last Call Neiman Marcus, and many more. It is also a great resource for finding flash sales that don't require any coupon codes when you're shopping online. Groupon Coupons even offers deals on electronics and travel, which is perfect for any upcoming summer trips you may have planned. You can shop some of my favorite Groupon Coupons below! Happy shopping!

You guys... this weekend marks my first official Mother's Day and I am so looking forward to it! Last year on Mother's Day I was technically already a mama because I was pregnant with Harper, which is when the photo above was taken. This year, however, will be my first Mother's Day that I will actually be able to celebrate with her. I'm sure by now you've seen a million Mother's Day gift guides (you can check mine out here), and gifts are wonderful, however what this mom really wants is SLEEP! My husband and I have talked about me getting a night away at a hotel all to myself and I feel like I wouldn't even know what to do with myself. Hopefully I will be able to sneak away soon, but in the meantime, here's what I'm loving this weekend:
1. I am seriously going crazy over all of the mommy and me styles that are out right now! Old Navy has so many twinning styles that I love and will actually be sharing soon on here. My all time favorite twinning piece: these baby boyfriend shorts (!!!) and the matching pair for mama.
2. Last year after having Harper I struggled big time with finding things to wear for at least 3 months after. It's so hard when you see other mamas bounce back in a week because that certainly was not the case for me. If you're a new mama and are struggling with figuring out what to wear, no need to worry - I've got you covered with 5 tips to dress your post-baby body.
3. Calling all Target fanatics - if you haven't checked out the Marimekko collection yet, you are seriously missing out. This rash guard swimsuit is the cutest thing I've ever seen (Harper has it thanks to her grandma and aunt), and of course there are twinning options for mom!
4. I had always been curious about essential oils, and when I was pregnant I finally took the plunge and discovered the amazing world of EO's! They seriously saved my life in the month or so after giving birth, and I continue to use them in my daily. If you are a fellow essential oil user or are interested in getting started, be sure to check out my post on using essential oils during pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
5. I'll leave off by saying if you're a Mean Girls lover like I am, your little needs this "Why Are You So Obsessed With Me?" onesie. You're welcome.
What are you loving this weekend? Any fun Mother's Day plans?

It's pretty crazy that two years have gone by since I started Middle of Somewhere and I feel like it wasn't even that long ago that I was writing my first birthday post. My second year of blogging was vastly different than my first, mainly because shortly after my first birthday, I had a baby! Now my blog is turning two and my baby is almost one, and this mama is in awe of how fast time goes by. I have had fun over the past week looking through all of the posts I created in the past year, and today I wanted to share a few of my favorite and most popular posts with you.
- Comfortable Casual with Lularoe was actually one of my last pregnancy outfit posts before I had Harper. These photos were even taken outside of the birth center where I had her after taking one of our birth classes!
- Harper's Nursery Tour was definitely a fun post to put together, and fun to look back on to see what her room looked like before it was ever used! It looks a bit different now with toys everywhere!
- 5 Tips for Dressing Your Post-Baby Body was a really essential post for me to write because I truly struggled with adjusting to my post-baby body for quite some time after Harper. Almost a year later, I finally feel like I'm back to my pre-baby body (for the most part), which has made getting dressed so much easier!
- Golden Hour is absolutely my favorite post from the past year, and one that I think really shows how far my #Instagramhusband (ha!) has come as far as photographing me goes. He is quite the Nigel Barker now, and I am so thankful to have him by my side through this!
- Spring Wardrobe Must Have's with ThredUp was another really fun post to write (and was part one of two) and I had a lot of fun working with ThredUp!
I am definitely looking forward to see what opportunities my third year of blogging brings, and I am extremely grateful for each one of you who has followed along! As a thank you to all of you who had decided to join me on my blogging journey, I wanted to do a little giveaway of a few of my favorite things. One lucky reader will win the cutest Moon and Lola pineapple necklace, a gift card to Starbucks, and some of my must-have beauty products (like this Essie nail polish). Be sure to enter using the Rafflecopter below! The winner will be announced next week! Good luck!
