My Spring Wishlist with Old Navy

I have always been a huge Old Navy fan, mainly because of their super afforable price points and quality of their pieces. Don't even get me started on my love for their baby clothes. I am definitely one of those people who will wear something for a season, and then struggle to bring it back out again the next year. Of course there are some exceptions to this, like my favorite jeans or a great pair of shoes that I'll never get tired of. For my spring wardrobe I have found myself shopping at Old Navy a few times already. I wanted to share some of my favorites that are currently in my shopping cart with you today. You can also get 35% off your entire order today only (03/31) - no code needed!

Dalmatian Print & Flares

Harper is officially 10 months old as of yesterday and I am totally having mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it's so sad to know that she will never be this little again, however it really is exciting to watch her grow, learn new things, and master new skills. Another really exciting thing that has taken 10 months for me to do is fit back into my pre-pregnancy clothes again! I really have to thank #paleo eating for that one (even though I'm like 80/20 Paleo). I was so excited when I tried on these flared jeans last weekend to find out that they fit me! It's crazy how rewarding fitting into your old jeans can be. I usually have a hard time finding jeans that are long enough for me, but I love the length of this pair because they're actually long enough for me to have to wear something other than flat shoes with them. I clearly can't stop wearing these dv for Target wedges (last seen here and here), and love the retro vibe they give off when paired with flared jeans.

What I'm Loving This Weekend Vol. 8

image via: Instagram

Here we are at the beginning of another weekend! As I mentioned in Wednesday's post this week has been another rough one for me in terms of sleep. I am once again typing as quickly as possible so I can try to get at least an hour (so sad!) of uninterrupted sleep before Harper wakes up. I realized that I haven't shared a What I'm Loving This Weekend post in way too long, so here we go...

1. Spring is right around the corner, and I don't know about you, but for me that usually means my calendar filling up with lots of events. Between weddings, graduations, and birthdays, it seems like every weekend is full of things to do and dress up for. I'm already on the look out for new party dresses for upcoming events. How pretty is this navy lace midi dress and this printed wrap dress? Both would be perfect for a wedding or baby shower!

2. Yesterday I shared a peek of my St. Patrick's Day outfit on Instagram, which included the sweetest little heart stamped necklace from Bip & Bop. You probably already know that I love any dainty gold jewelry, and this necklace is now my new favorite. The heart necklace is actually part of The Kristen Set, and both pieces are totally customizable. If you love Bip & Bop as much as I do, you can use the code LINDSAY for $5 off your order!

3. I have shopped at Old Navy more lately than I care to admit. I am going absolutely crazy for all of the darling clothes they have for spring, especially the baby girls clothes. I can't even handle the cuteness, like this red and white plaid romperthis flutter sleeve dress (that I picked up for Harper for Easter!), and this chambray top?

4. I finally stepped it up in the world and got an iPhone 6S! My 5S randomly decided to completely stop working last week, which was awful because I wound up loosing a lot of photos and notes, but thankfully was able to restore everything from January. I am not a huge pink fan, however I did get the rose gold phone and LOVE it! I knew I wanted a case to show off the phone and ultimately decided on this gorgeous Rifle Paper Co/Paper Crown case

5. I am so excited that next week is the first day of spring! As always, I'm loving Pinterest and am majorly inspired by all of the gorgeous images that can be found on there. My spring board is slowly but surely filling up as I count down the days to warmer weather, sunny days, and blooms all around!

Spring Fever

I hope you have been enjoying beautiful weather where you are like we have had here! Other than one really random cold, windy, and rainy day over the weekend, we have been really spoiled with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures. This week has been a rough one in terms of sleep though. Thanks to Daylight Savings and Harper getting two more teeth at once, I feel like I haven't slept in days! I will have to keep today's post short because after two (yes, two) whole hours of work to get her to sleep, she will probably wake up any minute now... oh, #momlife. Anyway, after looking back at this outfit, it dawned on me that it's the perfect play on the Pantone colors of 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity. I am generally not a big fan of pink, but I do love a good blush tone every once and awhile, especially now that it's almost spring. I was excited to pull out my Gigi New York clutch again, and I think it will most definitely be one of my go-to purses for the next few months.

Hot New Trends for Spring 2016

Happy Friday! This week has felt extra long to me, so I am definitely for the weekend! Another thing I am totally in the mood for is spring! Spring is well on its way, which means it’s time to get our wardrobes ready for the new season. Light fabrics and soft silhouettes meet bold prints and bright colors to create an assortment of styles that reflect spring’s whimsical, feminine nature. Here are my favorite new trends to add to your spring rotation for an intense seasonal update:

1. Sleepwear-Inspired Styles
Pajamas are no longer just for sleeping. This season, the comfortable silhouette is hitting the streets thanks to a plethora of sleepwear-inspired designs. To master the pajama trend without looking like you just rolled out of bed, make sure to opt for silk or satin over more casual fabrics like cotton and linen, choose a solid hue rather than a print for an elevated look, and pair with stilettos to create the perfect outfit for evening. You can also check out this Los Angeles Times' report for additional pointers.

2. Trendy Tie-Dye
The phrase “tie-dye” might not immediately elicit images of chic ensembles, but this retro trend is making a surprising comeback for the spring 2016 season with an updated, modern makeover. And if you mainly associate the colorful print with hippies and Grateful Dead concert tees, now is the time to take a peek at the way designers are reinventing tie-dye for spring with feminine wrap dresses, flirty minis, and subtle accents on flowy blouses.

3. Oversized Florals
Florals for spring is nothing new to the fashion scene. However, this season, the tried and true print is going big – breathing new life into the way we wear florals. Opt for styles that feature larger flowers over tiny buds, and look for prints that are artfully abstract or, alternatively, geometric in design. To browse spring-infused designs, check out Lyst. In their collection of floral must-haves, they have a sampling of styles from a variety of designers. Altogether, it showcases the wide range of bold, bright florals available.

4. Chic Slip-Ons
Slip-on sneakers are, without a doubt, one of the most versatile and easy-to-wear styles in your shoe collection. Pair them with dresses, denim cut-offs, or cropped trousers for warm-weather looks ideal for spring. This season, ditch the basic white design for one that’s a bit more eye-catching. Look for a design that incorporates bright, bold colors and unexpected textures, such as silk and woven fabrics.

5. Exposed Shoulders
Showing a little skin is often synonymous with spring fashion, and there’s no classier way to pull it off than by leaving your shoulders bare. Take a look at this Philadelphia Style list regarding the off-the-shoulder trend, which they're calling one of the hottest of the season. They also note that it masters the delicate balance between showing too much skin and just enough. To make this trend your own, try a dress with an off the shoulder style or a blouse with shoulder cutouts. Elegant, chic, and subtly sexy, off-the-shoulder necklines flatter every figure and flawlessly mesh with any aesthetic—just another reason to love this trend.

Neutral Territory

Isn't it crazy to think that the first weekend of March is already over? I love that the days are getting longer already, and I am definitely craving summer (even though I know it's not even spring yet). Our weather has been so beautiful lately, and it's been nice to break out some open toe shoes! It's been so nice not having to wear a coat, but I really like the idea of a utility vest and I tend to wear mine no matter what season it is! Another one of my new favorite things to wear is a teething necklace. I feel like poor Harper has been teething for at least 4 months now, and is now working on her 5th tooth, so this necklace has been a life saver. I love it's modern design and how it basically can be worn with any outfit! Be sure to stop by my Instagram later today because I will be giving one away to one lucky reader!

Spring Outfit Inspiration with Diet Coke 'It's Mine'

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MyUnique4 #CollectiveBias

If you've been a reader of Middle of Somewhere for awhile, you know that I am all about accessories, especially those that have a special, one-of-a-kind feel to them. I am definitely a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, so I love to find unique pieces to add visual interest to an outfit. I was recently shopping at Target (shocker!) and couldn't help but notice all of their new pastel and neutral pieces that are out for spring. While on my baby-less (!!!) trip through the store, I came across these dv for Target wedges and decided that I just had to have them. I also happened to come across the Diet Coke 'It's Mine' display, and knew I had to pick up a few bottles. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful colors portrayed on the glass bottles, and Diet Coke is a total guilty pleasure of mine, so it was a win-win for me! After picking out my favorite designs, I thought it would be fun to play around with the colors and patterns on the bottles when choosing my outfit for the day. The bottle that served as my primary outfit inspiration for this post is full of gorgeous pastels, including mint, peach, and lavender. When using any type of artwork as outfit inspiration, like the artwork found on the Diet Coke 'It's Mine' bottles, I generally follow a few basic rules:
  • Choose 1-3 colors that you want to be the focus of the outfit. In this case, my mint sweater was directly inspired by one of the colors on the bottle. I wanted to pair this sweater with dark gray jeans and neutral wedges to allow the beautiful hue of the sweater to stand out.
  • Add a few pieces of jewelry, such as layered gold necklaces, or one statement piece (a necklace, earrings, or a cuff) that compliment the color scheme of your inspiration source.
  • Allow the pattern(s) of your inspiration to shine! My bottle has various geometric shapes on it, so I thought a long geometric necklace layered with a short iridescent druzy pendant would be the perfect way to tie in the Diet Coke bottle.
  • Include 1-2 "stand out" pieces to complete your look, such as a metallic clutch or oversized sunglasses, that compliment the outfit without overwhelming it.

Be sure to head to your neighborhood Target to grab your favorite Diet Coke 'It's Mine' bottles that Coca-Cola created just for you, along with an exclusive carrier to store your bottles in. When you purchase 4 or more of the Diet Coke 'It's Mine' glass bottles at Target you will automatically receive 10% off. These bottles are only available for a limited time (while supplies last)! I hope you are as inspired by these gorgeous glass bottles as I am! Which Diet Coke 'It's Mine' bottle is your favorite?
