Spring Wardrobe Must Have's With ThredUp - Part Two

Today I am excited to be sharing part two of my spring wardrobe must have's with you all. In last week's Part One post, I shared the first two essential items on my spring cheat sheet. The look I am sharing today completes my top 5 list, which includes a lightweight floral scarfa sweater or top in a bright hue, and distressed denim. In thinking about my favorite items to transition from winter to spring, I realized that I tend to gravitate toward pieces that can be layered. In New Mexico, our weather is usually really unpredictable and random from about February until May. Last week, for example, we saw snow on Monday and 70 degrees without a cloud in the sky by Friday. My ThredUp order arrived at the perfect time and I wound up wearing this Equipment cashmere sweater and JCrew floral scarf combination twice - as pictured in today's post, as well as with jeggings and tall boots on one of our colder days.

Winter to Spring Must Have's
1. Cardigans - A nice lightweight option, like what I wore in my part one post, is the perfect layering piece that can be worn with a t-shirt or tank top, or a flannel button up if it's still a little chilly out.
2. Neutral crossbody bag - I always gravitate toward either black or brown when purchasing handbags because they go with anything and are appropriate no matter what season it is.
3. Floral lightweight scarf - I generally bundle up in a blanket scarf in the winter, but enjoy mixing things up with a more flowy lightweight option as the temperature rises. A scarf is a great transition piece that can be easily removed as it gets warmer during the day.
4. Distressed denim - I used to reserve any of my distressed jeans for the summer time, but have recently realized that they make the perfect transition piece. My distressed jeans are some of my most comfortable pants, and add visual interest to any outfit regardless of the season.
5. A bright colored sweater or top - I couldn't believe it when I found this Equipment cashmere sweater for under $40 on ThredUp! It is so comfortable and can be worn with jeans now, or paired with a sundress or skirt in the next few months with a great pair of wedges!

Spring Wardrobe Must Have's with ThredUp - Part One

Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a great week so far. Today I am excited to be teaming up with ThredUp to share some of my absolute must have's for spring. Last weekend it was in the 70's here, which was definitely got me in the mood for some permanently warmer weather. It's crazy to think that spring is just around the corner! When thinking about refreshing my wardrobe for spring, there are 5 pieces that I can't live without. A cardigan makes the top of my list. I pretty much wear cardigans all year long and love how they can make any outfit feel complete. I couldn't believe it when I found this alice + olivia cardigan for $35 that was originally well over $200! It is so lightweight and perfect for layering. I can see myself wearing it over so many different tops and dresses as the weather continues to warm up. My second must have for updating my wardrobe for spring is a neutral crossbody bag. The one I am wearing today was a Target find from last year, however there are so many cute options available right now.

Stay tuned for part two of my spring wardrobe must have's later this week, where I'll be sharing a cashmere sweater that I scored for under $40 in addition to my full top 5 check list for spring.

Wearing:
alice + olivia Cardigan c/o ThredUp (only $35.63!)
Target Leopard Slip Ons (old, identical pair here that's on sale for under $30)
Target Crossbody (old, similar here and loving this tassel crossbody here)

Hints of Gold

Last Saturday we went out to dinner to celebrate my sister's birthday and it was the perfect evening! I rarely get dressed up anymore, so it was nice to wear something other than jeans. I also haven't worn my faux leather leggings since before I was pregnant, and it felt great to put them back into the rotation! I am always a fan of a classic black on black outfit and think that gold accessories really help to glam up the look. I've actually worn a very similar outfit before using the same leggings and shoes. I bought these pumps at Target well over a year ago, and have gotten so much use out of them. There's no way I can rock a pair of 4 inch heels anymore, so I always gravitate toward a lower pump. I've had my eyes on this Sole Society pair for so long, and love all of the fun prints that they come in.

What I'm Loving This Weekend Vol. 7

image via: Instagram

TGIF! To sum up this week, I'm exhausted because of #teamnosleep (not by choice!) I am very much looking forward to celebrating my sister's birthday this weekend and enjoying Valentine's Day on Sunday with my little family. My husband and I have our traditional fancy home cooked dinner tonight and I can't wait! Here are some of the other things I am loving this weekend:

1. It's Valentine's Day on Sunday and I just can't get enough of all things red, white, and heart print! I recently shared my Valentine's Day favorites and also teamed up with a fellow NM blogger, Bekah of Redeem Cliche, to share our day and night outfit ideas for the occasion.

2. Gap is always one of my favorite places to look for baby clothes! Do you remember the Little Miss/Mr. Men books? I used to love them when I was younger, so naturally I was so excited to see that Gap created a limited edition line featuring the characters. I definitely need to buy Harper this Little Miss Gap onesiethis bib, and this sleeper

3. I have been a seller on Poshmark for about 3 years now, but was recently introduced to ThredUp. I found so many great deals, including an Equipment sweater for less than $50! Stay tuned for a future post with my fantastic ThredUp finds. In the meantime you can get $10 off your first purchase by starting here.

4. Have you checked out the Who What Wear collection for Target? I haven't been able to look at the pieces in store, but am in love with so many after browsing online. My favorite pieces are this polka dot skirtmulti colored scarf, and striped top. Looks like I need to go to Target this weekend!

5. My photo today was taken from my Instagram and I had to reshare it on here because it just makes me crave spring/summer! We are also supposed to have amazing weather here... I'm talking in the high 60's/low 70's (insert sunglasses emoji face). Warmer weather always makes me crave new sunglasses... anyone else? I am still loving Ditto's Endless Eyewear program since it's really hard for me to commit to paying $200+ on a pair of new sunglasses all the time. I love being able to try out new pairs, like my Karen Walker Super Duper Strength sunglasses, without the commitment of having to buy them. If you haven't tried it out yet, you can use the code MIDDLEOFSOMEWHERE to get your first month of rentals free (and it will only cost you $24/month after that to keep it going)

What are you loving this weekend?

Day to Night: What to Wear For Valentine's Day

I know I always say this, but it's really hard to believe that it's already Valentine's Day this weekend! My husband and I have started a tradition of staying home on Valentine's Day and cooking a special dinner together that usually involves a few steaks and some type of seafood - this year we are going to make lobster tails! This will also be Harper's first Valentine's Day, and of course I've already been planning out her little outfits for the weekend! Today I am excited to be teaming up with a fellow New Mexico blogger, the beautiful Bekah from Redeem Cliche. The New Mexico blogging scene is pretty small at this point, so it's always nice to connect with another local blogger. Since my style is generally more laid back and casual, I decided to share an outfit that can be worn for a nice day date on Valentine's Day. I recently picked up this sweater on a super sale from JCrew Factory and knew it would add the perfect feminine touch for Valentine's Day. I also opted for flats for a daytime look, and also because #momlife! I just love Bekah's take on a more evening appropriate outfit. How cute is her red lace midi skirt? Be sure to head over to Bekah's blog to get the full outfit details for her perfectly styled nighttime look.

What I'm Loving This Weekend Vol. 6

Truer words have never been spoken! I originally saw this posted on Instagram and laughed so hard... one of those it's funny because it's true laughs. It wasn't a particularly difficult or eventful week, but as always I'm happy the weekend is here. Here are some of my favorites from the week to carry us into the weekend:

1. Poor Harper has been teething like crazy and leave it to my child to get a top tooth first! About a week ago her top right tooth popped out and a few days later the bottom left followed. As predicted, teething is no joke!! Thank goodness for cute teething jewelry from a la mum! I just got the most adorable necklace in the mail yesterday, and lucky for you, you will have a chance to win your own soon. Be sure to follow along on Instagram so you don't miss it!

2. I have been reading a ton of blog posts and articles about StumbleUpon and how great it can be for blog traffic. This week I decided to step up my game and finally downloaded the app to my phone. I have been trying to stumble others posts a few times a day and have already noticed a difference in my traffic! I am not really only to create blog goals (although I know I should!), but lately I have been thinking that increasing my traffic in 2016 needs to be a priority. Have you had any success with StumbleUpon?

3. I mentioned in my last What I'm Loving This Weekend post that I have been in the market for some new jewelry, so I was realy excited this week when I received an email from Gorjana with a great Valentine's Day special! You can snag one of their alphabet necklaces free with any purchase with the code BEMINE. I picked up a 'H' necklace along with this midi ring set and can't wait to share them with you.

4. I clearly have social media on my mind this week because another thing I have enjoyed this week was reading up on how to edit Instagram photos like a pro on Misty Blue Blogs. Confession: I am usually pretty hard on myself when it comes to my Instagram and feel like it is the social media outlet that I both love the most and struggle with the most. I'm always looking for tips to implement to help with growth!

5. Spring is right around the corner, and I think I am going to attempt to bring some more plants into our home. I am absolutely horrible when it comes to caring for plants. I try so hard and they always die. I'm not kidding when I say that I have managed to keep one whole plant alive in my adult life. I always see fiddle leaf fig plants on Instagram, and am feeling brave enough to attempt to care for one. I am hoping these care instructions can help me out!

What are you loving this weekend?

Winter Blues

Is anyone else totally over winter? I was so excited when the groundhog did not see his shadow yesterday because I am SO ready for spring! It has been super windy and cold here lately, which makes me crave warmer weather even more. I've been so sick of being bundled, so I've been pretending it is warmer than it really is by wear flats and lighter weight scarves. I know I have mentioned some of my wardrobe must have's a million times in the past (like a great plaid top or a comfy vest and tall boots), but I have to say that a nice pair of boyfriend jeans and leopard loafers are totally in my top 5. I have worn these jeans quite a few times on MOS (most recently back in the early fall), and really don't see an end in sight for them! I'm always a fan of pieces that can be worn regardless of the season. What are some of your wardrobe must haves that can be worn in any season?
