Weekend Lunch Date

Happy Wednesday! How I was able to get this post up at my usual posting time is totally beyond me because it's definitely been one of those weeks, so I'll keep this short and sweet. Last weekend my husband and I went on a little baby-less lunch date to one of our favorite local spots - Flying Star. It has been so nice and sunny here (hence the super bright photos), but also really windy. This faux fur parka from Forever 21 is a new favorite of mine. I had been wanting a fur lined coat for awhile, and finally found one at a great price point. Unfortunately my exact coat is no longer online, but I have linked a few almost identical options below. I am also trying out a new pair of sunglasses from Ditto, and am loving the unique gray frames! Have you tried Endless Eyewear yet? If not, check the bottom of the post for a code for your first month free.

What I'm Loving This Weekend Vol. 5

image via: Instagram

This week has been a bit of a doozy... I think Harper is finally going to be getting a tooth (or teeth) soon, so she has been suuuuuuper fussy and clingy and this mama is extra tired. I didn't even think that was possible since we still have a total FOMO baby on our hands! Thank goodness for baby wearing, and it is no surprise that my new wrap makes #1 on my list of what I'm loving this weekend.

1. Since having a baby, I am even more obsessed with baby clothes and accessories than I ever thought I would be! I am such a sucker for shopping small and I have found so many of my favorite shops through Instagram. Two of my current favorites are Happy Baby Wrap and Lou Lou & Company. As I mentioned, Harper has been super clingy, making it really difficult to get things done at home. When she loses her mind if I put her down, my go-to is putting her in a wrap. I am obsessed with my marled gray wrap! I am also loving Lou Lou & Company for all things baby! I just love this blanketchanging pad cover, and chambray bows. You can use the code LINDSAYRUTLAND15 for 15% off your order to pick up any of your favorites!

2. We are still on the #paleo train, although my husband is way more committed to it than I am. I'm sorry, but there's no way I can be carb-free forever! We are still trying different baked goods with little success, but I am determined to find something that works and satisfies my sweet tooth. Next on my list are these lemon bars. Wish me luck!

3. I am totally in the market for some new jewelry, and one of my go-to shops is Baublebar. Since putting my Rocksbox subscription on hold I have missed getting new jewelry regularly. How gorgeous is this tortoise bib necklace and this turquoise statement cuff?

4. If you're a regular around here, you know that I can't live without Old Navy. I totally have spring on my mind and adore this kimono cardigan for when the weather warms up. Until then, how amazing is this patterned coat?!

Valentine's Day Favorites

It's hard to believe that January is almost over and it's already time to think about Valentine's Day! I wasn't always a big fan of Valentine's Day, but as I've gotten older I have just fallen in love (no pun intended) with anything heart related. Today I have rounded up some of my favorite Valentine's inspired pieces. Any of these would be the perfect gift for any lady in your life or to treat yourself to.

What I'm Loving This Weekend Vol. 4

Please tell me I'm not the only one who looks forward to the weekends when there isn't really much going on and being at home is the extent of your plans? That is pretty much my weekend and I can't wait! Here are some other things I'm loving this weekend:

1. So it's week 2 into going #paleo and my husband made a funny comment tonight - he said, "how come we don't get sick of food that's bad for us but we get sick of vegetables and fruits so easily?" SO TRUE! I could never get sick of pizza or fries, but salads.... over it! I always have a huge sweet tooth so going without is really hard for me. As I type this, we have paleo Nila Wafers in the oven and I hope to try this pineapple Dole Whip next!

2. I'm pretty much always window shopping for clothes, and recently came across Gray Monroe on Instagram. I don't think there's a piece of clothing on their that I don't want! What are some of your favorite online shops at the moment?

3. Since having Harper, I became really interested in making my own home and personal products. I have generally just followed whatever recipe I found on Pinterest, and then wondered why some things didn't work out the way I had hoped. I recently came across this article about green cleaning ingredients you should never mix and look forward to modifying some recipes based on the suggestions in this post.

4. Have any of you taught your baby sign language? I feel like Harper is getting to be the perfect age to start teaching her some sign language, and I love this article on the first 8 signs to teach your baby

5. New year, new foundation? I feel like I am in dire need of a new foundation! Pregnancy and nursing has really done a number on my already not so great, acne prone skin, and I'm just not that happy with any of my current products. I am leaning toward trying Bare Minerals, but would love to hear your recommendations!

Frost Free Vest & My New Favorite Accessory

Anyone else over the winter? I think I like the cold only until December is over and then once January hits I crave warmer weather! We have actually gotten a lot of snow so far this winter that has stuck around, which is surprising because usually when it snows in Albuquerque it melts before the day is over. While I love bundling up in a big scarf and a coat, I'm thankful for the days when it's warm enough that I can get away with a more lightweight outerwear option, like this frost free vest from Old Navy. I have to admit though that every time I wear a vest a quote from Mean Girls gets stuck in my head ("That's because that vest was disgusting!") Vests are always such an easy piece to throw on over pretty much any top or sweater! A vest is also a great piece of clothing that can pretty much be worn from fall until spring! Can we also talk about my rose gold Aibi watch? Talk about another versatile piece that I will be wearing all year long! I have been wanting an oversized watch with a leather band for awhile now, and this one totally fits the bill. I love the simplicity and affordability of Aibi watches, with the majority being well under $150. In addition to my rose gold men's option, I especially love the Julia Engel watch, named after my all time favorite blogger. If you find one that you can't live without, you can also use the code LINDSAYR for 30% off!

What I'm Loving This Weekend Vol. 3

image via: Live Laugh Rowe

The end of the first week of the year! I think because the past few weeks have been so relaxing and I had spent a lot of time with family over the holidays, this first week back at work felt like it dragged on. Anyone else experience this? Either way, TGIF! I am looking forward to getting some things done around the house and spending time with my new nephew, Jack. I am also going to attempt to get ahead on my blogging for next week... attempt being the key word! I am hoping to make "What I'm Loving This Weekend" a regular series on Fridays here on Middle of Somewhere to share some of my favorite things from the week. So without further ado, this weekend I am especially loving:

1. This paleo granola. I know it's super cliche to make goals around health for the new year, but this year my husband and I went for it anyway. We always joked about going paleo (because #paleo, #crossfit), but this year we decided to go for it. Only a week in, but so far so good. It's actually a little easier than I thought it would be. I am such a carb & candy lover, so going without those things have been challenging at times, but making this super yummy granola has helped when I have a sweet tooth because of the added dried cranberries and coconut flakes.

2. Maybe it's the new year that got me thinking about my hair, or the fact that I just made my hair appointment for February, but I am thinking about switching things up again. Of course I went straight to Pinterest to find some inspiration, and came across these short hair cut ideas. I still love having my hair short, but am thinking about possibly going a lot blonder!

3. I absolutely love Sandy's blog post on raising a confident daughter with a grateful heart. Even though Harper is only 7 months old, I feel like my husband and I are always thinking and talking about the kind of person we want to raise her to be. Being polite and confident in herself always make the list!

4. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my new rose gold Aibi watch... I am obsessed! I have been dying for a watch with a leather band, and I love the oversized look of the Charles men's watch. I will be sharing a lot more of my watch in future posts, but for now feel free to use the code LINDSAYR for 30% off any watch of your choice!

5. I recently bought this faux fur lined parka from Forever 21 after searching for this style coat forever! It's currently on sale for $43.99 and is great quality for a such a great price! I love the length of the coat, even though the sleeves are a little short on me (#tallgirlproblems). I am also really loving this black one and this brown shearling version.

I'm Back and Bundled Up

Well hello there! It feels good to be back for my first post in 2016. I took a much needed break for the holidays, but am ready to get back into the swing on things here at Middle of Somewhere. I hope you all enjoyed your holidays as well! Blogging in the winter is always a little more tricky since it's so cold outside and the days are so much shorter. We actually got quite a bit of snow around here around Christmas and the temperatures haven't warmed up enough to melt it all away. Is it weird that I have actually enjoyed bundling up lately? Don't get me wrong... in a few weeks I will be ready for it to warm up, but for now I can handle it! I have been living in this blanket scarf from Aerie and this super cozy cardigan. I am usually drawn toward darker color cardigans, but thought I should switch things up a little bit with this pretty mauve one. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen combinations of these pieces a few times!
